Endeavor Entrepreneurs interviewed by the BBC
|

Endeavor Entrepreneurs, Luvuyoand Lonwabo Rani from SiluloIlutho Technologies, were interviewed by the BBC where they were showcased as an inspiring, local company making a difference in the Township. Silulo offers IT training services in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, with an unemployed population of a staggering 1.6 million people. The Rani brothers are remarkable entrepreneurs, doing great work to up skill people, making them more employable. These courageous entrepreneurs are defying the odds by successfully operating in a market where large corporates such as Telkom have been hesitant to penetrate, deeming it unprofitable due to the low income and high unemployment. Since Silulo’s success, more companies have shown increased interest in this market, including MWEB, who have partnered with Silulo to open a series of public internet cafes and IT training centers. Emzingo On Board
Endeavor South Africa has engaged in a new partnership with Emzingo, a global non-profit organisation that offers advisory services on public-private-partnerships, community relations, and strategic management. Emzingo have hit the ground running, starting an engagement with Apple green Holdings, an excelerator company. International Selection Panel in Turkey
The latest International selection Panel held in Turkey from June the 13th to June the 15th was a resounding success. Eleven Entrepreneurs were selected, representing eight companies from all four participating countries at the ISP. This brings our total to 517 Entrepreneurs selected from 336 companies. A warm congratulation to all the selected companies who now form part of the class of 2010 high impact entrepreneurs and have a great exposure to the endeavor network.

Endeavor Uruguay Celebrates 10 year
Congratulations to Endeavor Uruguay on a decade of excellent work. Endeavor Uruguay kicked off their 10th-year anniversary celebrations with a panel last month. Board chairman Gabriel Rozman spoke about the organization's successes—highlighting that Uruguay’s Endeavor Entrepreneurs comprise 0.6% of the country's total GDP.
The Minister of Economy, Fernando Lorenzo, and IDB Representative Tracy Betts were also on-hand acknowledging Endeavor’s impact. Several top national TV stations and newspapers covered the event. In the past decade, Endeavor Uruguay has selected and supported 55 entrepreneurs with total 2009 revenues of US$172 million.
Endeavor Turkey partners with Akbank for pathbreaking $20 million credit pool
Endeavor Turkey has launched a highly-publicized partnership with Akbank, one of the largest private banks in Turkey. The partnership provides Endeavor Entrepreneurs with a $20 million credit pool, with access to more favorable rates, terms, and payment options than the market offers. The average loan amount offered per entrepreneur is one of the highest offered in Turkey. A ceremony and press conference took place on May 25th to celebrate the partnership, which could serve as a best practice example for other Turkish banks providing banking services to entrepreneurs. Endeavor Turkey recognises Vice-Chair Suzan Sabanci Dinçer for initiating the project, Finance Committee Members (Bülent Çelebi, Mahmut Ünlü, Mustafa Say, Murat Özyegin) for offering guidance and feedback throughout all stages, and Chairman Özcan Tahincioglu for his continued support.

Special VentureCorps Highlight – Tanya Petzer
In November 2009, Endeavor launched its HR Peer Mentorship Program which has been facilitated by Tanya Petzer of Engineer Your Tomorrow (EYT). HR Directors from five Endeavor companies (Cyest, Spartan, Batswadi, Callforce, Trainiac) participate in quarterly sessions that provide practical guidance and peer support. Tanya has create an environment that is structured enough to provide a clear set of objectives for each meeting, while providing enough flexibility for the directors to engage in a free flowing dialogue about challenges that they are facing at their respective firms. Because of Tanya’s facilitation, Endeavor has been able to reach its goals of providing tangible skills to HR Directors while also creating a support network to the managers in this key functional area. We wanted to be sure to highlight her contribution to our organization as we have greatly appreciated her efforts.
