In the press in the last quarter of 2009

Global entrepreneurship week was developed to initiate ongoing interventions and to inspire and educate people about a culture of entrepreneurship. Lots of initiatives took place around the country to acknowledge the impact of innovation and entrepreneurship in emerging markets.

Endeavor really tried to leverage their role as hosts of the week in South Africa in the media which resulted in a few media placements such as, an article covered by Business Day, ”Give people the innovation tools”,  featuring Malik Fal which highlighted the fact that entrepreneurship is the art to the nation’s wealth; Fal was again featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, in which he spoke about the collaborations Endeavor had with other organisations such as FNB, in order to have greater impact in the country; and a panel interview was held with Malik, Adrian Gore (Endeavor Chairman and Discovery CEO) and Iris Dempsey (Endeavor Board member and CEO FNB Commercial) on CNBC’s Entrepreneurial Edge covering the ‘State of Entrepreneurship’ Summit held by Endeavor on 19th November 2009. Ideate.co.za held a competition for the 19 November Summit, which saw 4 lucky winners receiving complimentary tickets for the day.

During this time both Primedia and eTV supported Endeavor’s campaign to raise awareness about Entrepreneurship in South Africa on a broader level.  They flighted announcements on 702, 94.7, campus media, outdoor billboards on William Nicol and Grayston Drive, Ster-Kinekor cinemas country-wide and on both eTV standard and news channels for a five week period. The reach was phenomenal and we are proud to have done our part in highlighting entrepreneurship with the help of such wonderful partners.

Studio 5, Endeavor Excelerator entrepreneurs were covered in Entrepreneur Magazine, along with Endeavor entrepreneur, Avi Eyal of Cura Software Solutions.  Natalie Killassey was featured in the Movers & Shakers of 2009, a special report in the December issue.

Host Saul Kropman quizzed Prefix about the state of Email Marketing in SA on Digital Edge covering the often negative perceptions of the medium, the scourge of spam and why buying databases is a really stupid thing to do. Further to this Malik was interviewed on Capricorn FM’s 'Chronic Junction' with Mothusi Makoshol and Vinny Lingham of Yola was interviewed by the Times online about being an entrepreneur a long way from home.   more...

Yeah, I had no clue where that was either when I got talked into embarking on a 20-something-hour day of travel to get there. If you look at a map of South America and trace your finger to the very bottom of Chile, that’s roughly where I was.   I sighed getting on the plane just four days after I got home from India. Having already traveled to Rwanda, Israel, China and India this year in search of the world’s best entrepreneurs, the journey was now quite literally taking me to the end of the earth. more...
