LAPDESK HANDOVER AT NANDI PRIMARY SCHOOL

On the 15th of March 2010, Shane Immelman from Lapdesk, together with the Endeavor SA staff, went down to Nandi Primary School in Diepkloof Soweto. They were warmly welcomed at the gate by the school kids, then lead down to the terrace where the children were anxiously waiting for their big day to commence.

Malik Fal, MD of Endeavor SA shared inspirational words with the next generation of heroes. He encouraged them to study hard as education is a key to success. The children were overwhelmed with excitement and took part in a number of activities from singing, reciting poetry, performing in the band and last but not least they were handed one of their very own 470 Lapdesks. “For every 80 million children in Africa, the chance to follow their dreams and empower themselves through education is passing them by due to lack of infrastructure” says Shane who adds  “if we ever hope to address global poverty, we must provide the children with quality education”. The Endeavor SA team was honored to have taken part in this initiative that helps to address education challenges in marginal communities. One Lapdesk has touched and ploughed into a brighter future of many children. Picture gallery

ENTREPRENEURIAL DIALOGUE

The Entrepreneurial Dialogue is a collective effort written by Endeavor SA in association with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). It was the outcome of a series of engagements and dialogues held in November 2009 between policy makers, entrepreneurs, academics and funding providers. It hopes to give South Africa a platform from which the challenges and obstacles facing entrepreneurs can be overcome. This dialogue was officially launched on the 25 of March 2010 at the Hilton hotel, a report that people will anxiously wait to see take shape. The launch was well attended by daring entrepreneurs, business leaders and like-minded NGO’s who are passionate about entrepreneurship in our country. We were delighted to have pulled together the likes of David Morobe, CEO - Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, Malik Fal, MD - Endeavor SA, Shireen Chengadu, Director of the Academic programme - GIBS. This incredible panel shared their thoughts with the audience and highlighted a set of recommendations that can be abstracted and piloted within the entrepreneurial space.
